Description
The small size and balanced tasting fruit make the Dwarf Nagami Sour Kumquat Tree a great choice for growing in a container, or in a less than expansive garden space.
The Dwarf Nagami Sour Kumquat Tree has a traditional tart flesh and sweeter skin. These kumquats are eaten whole and the contrast between the sour flesh and sweet skin creates a balanced and refreshing treat. The trees can remain between five and six feet tall when properly pruned once a year.

Citrus Tree Care
If you are planting your Dwarf Nagami Sour Kumquat Tree in the ground, you can plant it in early spring, after any chance of freezing temperatures. Select a bright spot with well-drained soil.
If you live in a colder area and must plant in a pot, be sure to bring the tree inside in winter before freezing occurs. Allow the top inch or two of soil to dry out between watering.
Cut away any dead branches and never stack mulch or leaf litter around the trunk.
Also, you can fertilize your Dwarf Nagami Sour Kumquat Tree with fertilizer formulated for citrus, and apply according to manufacturer directions.
Fruit & Harvesting
Your Dwarf Nagami Sour Kumquat Tree will bloom in mid-summer, and produce fruit in winter.
To know when the citrus fruit is ripe, just wait for the kumquats to turn orange, and then do a taste test.
Always harvest any fruit left on the tree at the end of the bloom.
This allows the tree to recover over spring and be ready to bloom again the following summer.
Advice
In areas colder than USDA Zone 8, you can grow your Dwarf Nagami Sour Kumquat Tree in a pot and bring it inside for the winter. Grow your indoor tree in a sunny, southern-facing window, and if possible, take it outside for the spring and summer after any chance of frost has passed.
